A unique D&D homebrew for a random encounter that you can put anywhere in your current campaign
Ideas for Random Encounters #2:
Deep in the forest, the party stumbles upon a perfectly set dinner table. We’re talking silver goblets, fine plates, and still-steaming food—roast duck, candied roots, a suspiciously modern-looking charcuterie board. No signs of who set it, and no tracks around it. If the players sit, the chairs scoot in automatically. If they eat, the food tastes amazing… until the third bite, when everyone has to make a Wisdom save or start monologuing their deepest insecurities. Out loud. In front of everyone. The effect doesn’t stop until they confess a truth they’ve never told the group. It’s not a combat encounter—it’s a roleplay ambush. Perfect for breaking tension, pushing backstory reveals, or just watching the party rogue spiral about her fear of ducks
